Here's What's New in 4M: August 2026

August brought a new way for project teams to work together directly on the map, plus two more states live on 4M's path to nationwide coverage. Here's what's new.

Collaboration: Discuss and Resolve Decisions Right on the Map

Project conversations don't have to live in email threads, PDF markups, and scattered trackers anymore. With Collaboration, teams can drop a pin or highlight an area right on the map, then start a conversation with a comment and loop in the right people with @mentions, all without leaving 4Map.

Those who are @mentioned then get notified directly in 4Map notifications so they can review the comment and respond. 

Why it matters: Decisions that used to get buried in inboxes now come with a timestamped, defensible history anchored to the exact location they concern. New team members can read the annotation history on a project to get up to speed in minutes instead of sitting through a briefing call.

Foundation Data is Live in: South Carolina, Arkansas, and Delaware

Two more states just joined the map. 4M's Foundation Data is now live in South Carolina and Delaware, giving teams in both states instant, reliable utility data to work from.

This keeps 4M on track to become the first and only utility data platform with nationwide coverage by the end of 2026 — every state added means more teams working from the same trusted, up-to-date picture of what's above and below ground.
